Directions |
❖ 2 ¼ cups Self-Rising Flour ❖ ¾ cup Shortening ❖ 1 cup Milk ❖ ½ batch Fresh Pork Sausage |
1 Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). 2 Combine the self-rising flour, shortening, and milk in a large bowl. 3 Turn out the dough onto a floured surface. Knead briefly until no longer sticky, then smash down flat and fold over in half. 4 Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter, and repeat step 3 until all the dough is used. 5 Bake the biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown. 6 While the biscuits are baking, form the fresh pork sausage into patties slightly larger than the same diameter as the biscuits — they’ll shrink a little. 7 Heat a large skillet over medium heat and fry the sausage patties on each side for 2-3 minutes or until browned. 8 Drain the cooked sausage patties on a layer of paper towels and allow them to rest. 9 Once the biscuits are done, slice them in half and sandwich the sausage patties inside. |
